Content Marketing: The Basics

When Educate2Motivate first started, it was strictly an e-newsletter company featuring business planning, estate planning and Medicaid planning e-newsletters sent on behalf of attorneys and financial professionals. Just recently, we were excited to announce our new service, content marketing.

What is content marketing?

The Content Marketing Institute defines content marketing as “a marketing technique of creating and distributing relevant and valuable content to attract, acquire, and engage a clearly defined and understood target audience – with the objective of driving profitable customer action.”

Why use content marketing?

There are numerous reasons to use content marketing for your business. The main purpose of content marketing, as mentioned above, is to drive profitable customer action. Driving profitable customer action can include increasing sales, educating the market on your brand or a product, improving brand loyalty, fostering trust and becoming a thought leader in your industry.

Who uses content marketing?

The majority of both B2B (business-to-business) and B2C (business-to-consumer) marketers use content marketing, in addition to traditional marketing, in their businesses.  Studies have shown that customers, clients, referral sources and prospects prefer content over advertisements.

Last week we posted an article to our social media pages with an infographic about content marketing. This infographic states that:

  • 70% of people would rather learn about a company through articles rather than an advertisement
  • 82% of consumers feel more positive about a company after reading custom content
  • 90% of consumers find custom content useful

Where do you use content marketing?

Content marketing can be used across both digital and print marketing. The most common places marketers use content are:

  1. Social media pages (the top 3 social media platforms for content are LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook)
  2. Newsletters and e-newsletters
  3. Websites
  4. Blogs
  5. Case studies

Content marketing is an extremely effective way to engage current and potential customers by educating them about your brand or product. Educate2Motivate is now offering quality estate planning, business planning and high net worth planning content for $49/month. We provide the content and you become the thought leader.

Stay tuned for our next blog which will explain how to promote your content.
